KK41180 & KK41181

The KK41181 sofa was designed by Kaare Klint for the Danish Prime Minister Thorvald Stauning in 1930. Seating three people, the well-proportioned sofa is divided into sections, each supported by their set of crossbars. While elegant in itself, this construction is also practical by offering more legroom and making it easier to rise from the sofa. When the design was presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition in 1937, the sofa was applauded for its “mature expression”, and even today it exemplifies the ideal balance of graceful elegance and thoroughly executed functionalism. Originally conceived for three people, the KK41181 sofa has since been supplemented with a two-seater version known as the KK41180 sofa.
